Free engine plugins
MarchingBlocks makes the tiles and paints the worlds. The MarchingBlocks Paint plugins bring them into your engine — free, open source under the MIT license, for your games, commercial ones included.
Godot

What each plugin does today
Exported from the app: the tiles of each layer (.mbset) or the whole painted world (.mbworld). Here is what the plugins read and do with it, in version 1.0.0.
| Godot | Unity | Unreal | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tiles, layers, variants, PBR materials; paint cells in the editor and the tiles follow | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Selection tools and special shapes (rooms, room from selection, extrude, shrink) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Transitions between layers | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Animated textures | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Water: the exported surface and its six looks | Yes, as exported | Yes, as exported | Yes, as exported |
| Water recomputed when you paint in the engine | Not yet | Not yet | Not yet |
| Foliage: plants placed, swaying in the wind | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Foliage: planting new plants in the editor | Not yet | Not yet | Yes |
Water is computed by the app: paint in your engine and the exported water stays where it was until you export again. Your own water shader can replace the six looks — it receives the same data (flow, kind of water, depth).
The open format
A tileset is a folder: the tiles as a glTF file, and a JSON file that says which tile goes where — the placement rule is written inside it. Anyone can read it, write a plugin for another engine, or process it with their own tools. The format is described with the plugins, under the same MIT license.
An update of MarchingBlocks never breaks the plugins you already installed: the formats stay readable by the plugins already published.
License
The plugins and the format description are MIT-licensed: use them, change them, ship them inside your games. The MIT license gives no right to the paid MarchingBlocks application, which has its own license agreement.
